What is Cloud Accounting?
This method of accounting is simply being able to access your accounting software and data securely over the internet rather than through a computer’s hard drive. This has become more and more popular over recent years for a number of reasons and here at Edney Bookkeeping & Accountancy Services, we believe it is the way forward.
The main benefits to cloud accounting that we believe are as follows –
- Security – Your data is stored in the cloud securely and is therefore not reliant on one computer’s hard drive. This means that if your laptop or computer was to malfunction or even be stolen, you have the relief in knowing that nothing about your businesses accounts were stored on the device and therefore it is easily retrievable form the cloud.
- Accessibility – You are able to access your accounting software anywhere that has internet connection. You can use multiple devices as most cloud based accounting software comes in a mobile friendly format as well as a tablet or laptop version.
- Real-time Information & automatic updates – Most accounting software that is cloud based now offers the ability for you to link with your business bank account meaning that the bank transactions will automatically update your accounting software as they happen. This allows you to deal with your business in real-time, knowing that you always have the latest and most up-to-date information available to you.
- Collaborative working – All cloud-based accounting packages are collaborative meaning that you can have multiple users allocated to your software. This means that you and your accountant both can view your business accounts and share information with each other (such as reports etc) over the cloud-based accounting package.
