Privacy Policy

Edney Bookkeeping will operate under the GDPR to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals and to ensure that personal data is not processed without their knowledge and, wherever possible, that it is processed with their consent.

Our policy applies to the processing of personal data by automated means (i.e. computers) and to the processing other than by automated means of personal data (i.e. paper records).

We may also share your information with law enforcement bodies, HMRC and other regulators, as required or permitted by law. 

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access or obtain copies of the personal information held about you by us. Should you wish to exercise this right, please make a written request to


A response to your request will be provided to you within 30 days of us receiving a valid request. 

In order to deliver our services to you and, as necessary we will use third party processors (for example for the purposes of account processing, analytics, credit and fraud prevention). Such processing is conducted under contract and we ensure that appropriate data protection and information security assurances are provided.

Edney Bookkeeping is the Data Controller for any personal data you provide to us. 

We may receive information directly from you or from someone you have authorised to discuss your accounts. We may also receive information about you from sources such as HMRC. This information may consist of the following personal information:
  • your name, contact details (including home address, telephone number and e-mail address) and date of birth;
  • all other personal information that is provided to us when a contract is signed, and money laundering procedures completed. This may include things like passport numbers, photo identification, details of any previous bankruptcy or financial status;
  • Bank account details;
  • Details of any third party that may conduct business with; 
  • Length of time trading;
  • Details of any employees;
We will retain this information as required and directed by the GDPR and HMRC to support our ability to manage your accounts, respond to complaints, demonstrate compliance with GDPR and to support our ability to defend against legal claims. 

Your personal information may be used by Edney Bookkeeping as is necessary for the following purposes: 
  • to assess your financial standing;
  • to confirm your identity;
  • to prevent fraud;
  • to verify the information provided;
  • to administer and maintain your accounts;
  • to assist you with enquiries;
We will retain all expired personal data for no longer than 6 years as in guidance with HMRC regulations.
